Getting to Costa Rica by Air
Most international flights arrive into the capital city of Costa Rica, San Jose, at the Juan Santamaria (SJO) International Airport.
Most of the major American airlines fly into Costa Rica. You can also try TACA, which is the Costa Rican national airline.

By Car to Casa Frangipani
If you do choose to drive in Costa Rica we strongly recommend that you rent a Sports Utility Vehicle (SUV). The property is reached through a country road which is not paved.
If you require a rental car we would be happy to assist you.
Directions
From San José take new highway Route 27 to the port town of Puntarenas, about 1.5 hours. In Puntarenas take the ferry to Paquera which is located on the southern tip of the Nicoya Peninsula. The ferry schedule varies based on the season. Usually ferries leave Puntarenas every two hours during the high season and the ride across the Gulf of Nicoya is a scenic one hour trip:
When you arrive in Paquera, take the road to Tambor, continue straight on to Cobano and from Cobano drive to Montezuma. After Cobano the road is not paved. Right before arriving in Montezuma the road is paved again. First, you will see the Three Monkeys Guest House to your left, then you will take the second entrance to your right. Drive down the the dirt road keeping to your left until you see "Casa Frangipani" on your right hand side.
Driving from Paquera to Montezuma takes about one hour and is about 50 kms in distance.
By Air to Montezuma/Tambor
You have two choices of airlines with daily flights to Montezuma/Tambor from San José: Sansa Air or Nature Air. It costs about 100$ per person for a one-way ticket and takes about 30 minutes of flying time.
Sansa is located in the Domestic Terminal at Juan Santamaria (SJO) International Airport in San Jose.
Nature Air is located in the International Terminal and also at Tobias Bolanos Airport in Pavas, San Jose. The airport is about 5 miles west of downtown San Jose and about 10 miles (a 30 minutes drive) from the international airport.
The airport nearest Montezuma is Tambor Airport. Tambor is halfway between Paquera and Montezuma. It will take 30 minutes to drive from the airport to Montezuma. Car rentals are available at the airport.
We can arrange to have a taxi pick you up at the airport or reserve you a rental car. We highly recommend car rental as it is very difficult to find public transportation. It is about a 30 minute cab ride to Montezuma and costs approximately 40$ dollars.

By Shuttle Bus to Montezuma
From San Jose it takes about 5.5 hours. The bus will pick you up at your hotel in San José between 7:30 am and 8:30 am.
All the buses have A/C and they will make a stop allowing you to eat something on the way.
